By then the girl was fidgeting, the thunder seeming like it was wracking through her body and reminding her of impact and suddenness— damn it. Kagari couldn’t stop her shudder of unease and quickly moved closer, her thin legs entangling with others; her eyes darted to the curtain and then back to the skin of her friend’sneck. Yomi was saying something… but her shiver was of something more important to the blonde. She watched Yomi’s body briefly contort in such a beautiful way.  The golden of the young’s eyes burned like coal.

Then the ebony lifted her arm to bring her closer, their foreheads soon pressed together, with green eyes seemed to glitter like those of a frightened rabbit. Kagari’s breath came out sounding higher from both the contact and another crack of thunder. Almost unknowingly, her body moved to slide over on top of the taller, straddling her from under the comforter, their warmth seeping into each other. “Yomi,” Kagari managed to say, her voice low, “I don’t want to sleep.” She leaned forward, nestling her head in the crook of the other’s neck and shoulder. “I can’t.” She guessed Yomi was fighting an internal battle of her own. Meanwhile, it was nearly a bloodbath inside of her own conscious.

IneedyouIneedyouIneedyouIneedyouIneedyouInee—

The mantras in her head sang in glorious harmony.

She really couldn’t wait much longer.

Another particularly jarring crash of thunder— her placebo obviously doing little to the intended effect, panicked breath fanning against her neck, the high sound muffled by the chaos raging just beyond the glass. Legs entangled, bodies tight together… Yomi didn’t offer any resistance as Kagari pushed, rolling so that her smaller form hovered above. But wasn’t that their relationship? Kagari pushed, Yomi yielded— it wasn’t as though she was incapable of pushing back, not at all, but… green eyes darted away, unable to match gazes with the other. Golden hair fell around the two, obscuring her vision, leaving Kagari the only thing clearly visible.

The only thing that mattered.

That was it, wasn’t it?

Yomi, I don’t want to sleep. I can’t.”

dementiafixation:

Clouds furled across the sky accompanied by the ugliest sound of the roaring wind. Rain splattered heavily across the shingled rooftop, not even slowing down the slightest with the passing minutes, and reminded the two souls hidden inside that the world wasn’t always kind. In fact, when was it ever, really? With each miracle came a curse… wasn’t it how the saying went? Ah, it didn’t really matter. After all, one of the souls didn’t care at all. She hadn’t like the world since… that accident happened. It was nasty to think about and she didn’t bring it up unless it was absolutely necessary. Even she had some crumpled values of her own believe it or not— as if she’d ever say it aloud though.

Considering her predicament, the thunderstorm was what she vaguely considered a “soft-spot.” The young girl didn’t like how it had made her feel in her own room— forgotten, isolated, and concentrated by her own shallow breaths. So, instead, she had demanded that hideous woman that she be with Yomi in Yomi’s room - YomiYomiYomi — or else she’d die.

“I already can’t walk because of you both. Do you wish me to die as well?”

It worked to the best of her advantage. The Takanashi’s residence was so easy when it came to pleasing her. Their lives were practically hers.

So now she was huddled away in her dearest friend’s bedroom, curled in her sheets, resting on her pillow, hands cupping her face. Currently the shorter of the two was leaning close to the other’s face, her long lustrous blonde hair cascading down onto the ebony’s chest. She knew the other would probably attempt a protest. Kagari, she would say in that desperate voice, my mother might hear. She never knew how careful Kagari was when it came to things like this— it wasn’t often she was given the chance to have more than a few hours in Yomi’s presence without her mother cautiously creeping about.

She smiled, breathing in the soapy freshness Yomi had, and edged closer.

Yomi would be going back to school soon and they both knew it— it hung over Kagari like the blade of a guillotine, sharp and ready to pierce her swiftly. The pseudo-cripple scrunched up her nose and quickly shooed the thought away, deciding to embrace the moment she had currently. She needed Yomi. Absolutely and utterly needed. She would be nothing without the bespectacled girl, and she felt she would be this way for quite some time.

Yomi would be hers forever.

Kagari smiled impishly, running her hands down Yomi’s nightwear and letting her less conservative thoughts flood her mind. “Yomi,” she murmured, “Yomi, protect me from the thunderstorm. Make me forget,” she finished, practically purring. She was punctuated with an ominous crack of thunder.

Wind and thunder rumbled overhead, rain hammering relentlessly against the window panes, seemingly magnified in the quiet room. At first, Yomi had thought little of the change in weather, offering it a short glance from her desk earlier in the evening. The preliminary signs of summer bleeding into autumn, nothing to pay much mind to. It was only as the storm slowly began to build that the girl grew uneasy, casting frantic glances at the window as the sky darkened and the rain began to pour— finally punctuated by the first rumble of thunder. She wasn’t scared of thunder storms… but she was all too aware of someone who was, unease gnawing at her fragile nerves as she slowly prepared to bed.

The call from her mother hadn’t been surprising.

The green eyed girl gazed back at the other, the two curled beneath her sheets, small hands cupping her face as the blonde smiled that same smile. She made no protest, lying supine as Kagari did as she pleased, the sensation of their mingling breath raising the fine hairs on the back of her neck. She wouldn’t deny the other anything, something they both knew all too well— what right did she have to refuse? It was her fault that her friend had… eyes fluttered shut for a moment, after a particularly loud crack of lightning.

The passage of time had seemed to slow to a lethargic pace over the past few months, hours spent together indoors, away from the blistering summer heat. How vacations were always spent— a part large part of her felt guilty for counting each passing day, closer and closer to the inevitable return to school that marked a reprieve… and once more, she felt guilty for considering the school year as such. Kagari needed her. She knew as much, the words whispered into her ears in a lilting tone on those few occasions away from her mother’s company. She loved the other girl— truly she did. Would she let her take so much if she didn’t? However, the longer the she spent in her company, the more those fond memories of their childhood seemed distant and hazy. The once sweet crybaby had become something altogether more… twisted.

But wasn’t that her fault too?

Yomi’s breath hitched slightly as the smaller girl’s hands moved, brushing down her nightwear, their intent clear.

“Yomi, Yomi, protect me from the thunderstorm. Make me forget.

“K-Kagari,” the girl breathed, shivering slightly at the spoken words, her tone an unsteady whisper, “We can’t… m-my mother, she might…” the protest hung in the air, token resistance fleeting as it came. Shifting, she wrapped one arm loosely about the girl’s slight frame, bringing their foreheads together as though hoping the proximity would appease her.

“W… we should sleep.”

the game is afoot { lily & reim

It wasn’t fair—!

Delicate cheeks puffed up with air, lips forming a pout, Lily Baskerville was the perfect image of a sulking child. Something that she was perfectly entitled to! She was just as strong— she was a Baskerville! Big sister Lottie was being too cautious— she wanted to find Master Glen just as much and… and—!!

After a moment, the child released the breath in a resigned huff. Adults always looked down on her… adults always looked down on children didn’t they? Blue eyes closed in thought— this was different, though, wasn’t it? Nothing like Ebauche, nothing like the judging stares and harsh words— small fingers came to trace the intricate mark marring her cheek. Nothing like that. No— the Baskervilles were her family, they were the same and they loved her. Lily knew this, loved them in return with all her heart, already feeling her anger dissipate—

It was a warm feeling, knowing that you were loved.

Still! The young girl hopped up, a barely contained ball of energy as she rocked on her heels— if no one was here to play with her she’d have to find her own playmate, wouldn’t she? The red cape swathed her as she half walked and half skipped, following her movements as a joyous smile curved her lips. Everyday was new and valuable, a new adventure just waiting to be found and new friends waiting to be made! Sitting still wasn’t going to help her, always moving forward—

Who would she meet today?

tumblrbot: WHERE WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO VISIT ON YOUR PLANET?

Mm… it’s not something I’ve ever thought about. I’m happy enough being at home but— I suppose somewhere warm would be nice. I’m sure Sho-chan and Kan-chan would like that—

We could go to the beach again.
